Sidney Simmons is a native of Jacksonville, with deep roots and established connections in the community. He has been practicing business, corporate and commercial real estate law in Jacksonville since 1983. He is admitted to practice in Florida as a member of The Florida Bar.
From 1983 until 2008 he practiced in well known Jacksonville law firms. In 2008 he established his own practice.
Mr. Simmons received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University in 1980, with honors, and his law degree from the University of Florida in 1983, also with honors, where he was an Editor of the University of Florida Law Review and inducted into the Order of the Coif.
He has the highest possible legal ability and ethics rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named by Florida Trend Magazine as one of Florida’s “Legal Elite”.
He has a long history of volunteer service to various national and local organizations. He has served as Chairman of the National Advisory Council to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Chairman of St. Vincent's Healthcare, and Chairman of the Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition of Jacksonville. In 2016 he was elected to the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities USA, a national network of local aid agencies that each year serve more than 10 million people regardless of their religious, social, or economic backgrounds. With annual revenues approaching $5 billion, Catholic Charities is the nation's second largest human services provider, behind the federal government. He is married to a Jacksonville native, and has three grown children.
